The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland is Easton’s first Change for Charity partner for 2017! We couldn’t be more excited to help support an organization that does so much to inspire and empower young women to become leaders in the greater Columbus area. While our Change for Charity program will no doubt help Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland, it’s no secret that their biggest fundraising tool comes through the sale of Girl Scout Cookies. If you’re excited about these world-famous treats, then you’ll be thrilled to hear the organization’s latest announcement.

To celebrate 100 years of cookie selling, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland will be adding a new cookie to its 2017 lineup. This sweet new addition will join the classics like Thin Mints®, Samoas, and Trefoils® for the upcoming cookie season, January 14 – March 26, 2017.

Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland will offer a s’mores-inspired crunchy graham sandwich cookie with creamy chocolate and marshmallowy filling. Each cookie features an embossed image of one of the five Girls’ Choice Outdoor badges.

“We’re so excited for our customers to try the new s’mores cookie that has strong ties to our organization’s history,” said Tammy Wharton, CEO of the organization. “Girl Scout S’mores are a new and delicious way to support girls who are learning leadership and entrepreneurial skills by participating in the largest girl-led business in the USA, the Girl Scout Cookie Program.”

This s’mores-inspired cookie, made with specialty ingredients, contains no artificial flavors or colors, high fructose corn syrup, or hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. The newly introduced cookie is the first of its kind for Girl Scouts.

The tradition of making and enjoying s’mores in the outdoors was popularized by Girl Scouts as early as the 1920s. The organization was one of the first to publish the iconic recipe under the name “Some More” in a 1925 issue of Girl Scout Leader magazine. The popular s’mores recipe is just one component of Girl Scouts’ longstanding commitment to the outdoors, a cornerstone of the organization that plays a vital role in girls’ leadership development.

When consumers purchase a box of Girl Scout Cookies®, they are investing in a girl’s future and can feel good that their Girl Scout Cookie purchase powers unique and exciting opportunities for girls to try new things and make a difference in the world. Girls get to choose how to spend their cookie program proceeds—whether it’s starting a garden at a nursing home or taking a troop trip to Switzerland, the possibilities are endless.

2017 is going to be a big year for Girl Scouts—with the introduction of the new cookie, celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies, and more than 10,000 people coming together with Girl Scouts to celebrate girls at G.I.R.L 2017, to be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, October 4-8.

G.I.R.L. 2017 is the girl-power event of the year! It’s an event for every G.I.R.L (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader) ™ who wants to make the world a better place. All girls are welcome to dive into issues and interests relevant to girls in a Hall of Experiences, be inspired by featured visionary leaders, and be a part of the magic.
